Botox: Secret Agent to Kill Your Perspiring Blues

Scorching summers, tiring nerves, and excessive sweating is a cause of great irritation. But what happens when you are prone to incessant sweating even in cool weather? Rightly guessed- you turn up not only with drooping spirits but also with a shabby and often, stinking appearance. Non-stop perspiration is a common disorder affecting millions of people the world over. The causes of this disorder are numerous, ranging from strenuous exercise and stress to acute neurological, systemic, or psychological disorders. Occurrence of hyperhidrosis on account of pathophysiological condition is mainly hereditary in origin.

Of all the kinds of hyperhidrosis, axillary, pedal, and palmer occur commonly. Under such conditions, the patient experiences severe perspiration in the palms, armpits, hands, face and feet. Not only does it result in tiredness, but also is a cause of great embarrassment. Rightly though, treatment of hyperhidrosis should be taken care of as early as possible to avoid any repeated situations of public embarrassment. Sweating might stain your clothes, ruin an appointment or complicate any business or social interactions.

Treatment for hyperhidrosis should be carried out only after proper diagnosis. It is always advisable to undertake hyperhidrosis surgery or cervical sympathectomy as the last resort. In fact, the treatments available nowadays are adequate to offset hyperhidrosis for a prolonged period of time. Amongst them, botox treatment rules the roost with more and more people vying for it.

The botulinum toxin is injected into different spots depending on the areas to be treated. For instance, botox is injected into twenty different spots in the armpit. The effect of the toxin easily lasts till six months. Though a little painful, use of small injections have made the procedure more bearable.

Though much thought has been given to the possible side effects of botox, results suggest that normal doses of the toxin do not produce any major side effects. Research proves that botox contains a minimal dose of the botulinum toxin type A. The botox injection creates numbness in the sweat glands on account of the presence of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter secreted by sympathetic nerves. Hence, the treated areas show no signs of sweating for a minimum period of six months.

Mild headache or tiny bruises on the injected areas are some of the minor side effects of hyperhidrosis treatment using botox. A routine course of botox hyperhidrosis will surely terminate your perspiring problem and help exude a fresh and confident personality.

The Best Skin Care Treatment for Skin Wrinkles

The best skin wrinkles treatment is a multi-ingredient product that addresses the various “causes” of the signs of aging. Medical treatments always work best when they look at the cause of the problem, rather than just the symptoms.

You might not think of skincare as a medical or health issue, but the skin is the largest organ of the body and it is the skin’s health or lack of health that affects your appearance, either positively or negatively. So, below, you will learn about the causes and the “cures” for wrinkling, sagging and all of the signs of aging.

Moisture Loss

Relatively speaking, moisture content is equivalent to firmness. Excessive dryness causes sagging and dry-skin is more easily damaged. Damage is less quick to heal, as we age, so it is important to protect yourself, whenever possible.

Obviously, the best skin wrinkles treatment to address moisture-loss is a moisturizing ingredient. But, the typical lotions and creams contain petroleum based oils that are not similar to the skin’s natural moisture and can not be absorbed by the pores. Vegetables or plant-based oils are better solutions.

Decreased Production of New Cells

Until recently, there was little that we could do to address this issue. Cellular production naturally decreases with age. Once you pass the age of 30, the body begins to produce fewer collagen and elastin fibers. Without new cells to replace damaged ones and new fibers to improve elasticity, we start to look older and older. Skin wrinkles then start to appear.

You can’t turn back the clock, but if you support the skin’s health, you can look like you did. Did you ever notice how some people look older than they are, while others seem ageless? There’s a reason for that.

People who have excellent nutritional habits have the ability to produce more replacement cells and fibers. Researchers have learned that it is possible to supplement the skin’s nutrient content with nourishing creams and lotions.

The latest “thing” in skin wrinkles treatment is an ingredient called Functional Keratin. It is a kind of protein that has been shown in clinical studies to increase skin-cell proliferation by 160% in as little as three days. That’s amazing.

Low Levels of Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is like glue that holds the cells together. As levels decrease, we lose firmness. The face appears wrinkled or cracked. Researchers have found that extracts from wakame kelp prevent the loss of hyaluronic acid, by blocking an enzyme that breaks the amino down. Only the best skin wrinkles treatment contains wakame kelp extract, functional keratin and plant-based oils. But there is another important component of this cream: antioxidants.

Free Radical Damage

Depending on who you listen too, free radical damage is only one of the causes of an aged appearance or it is completely to blame for all of the signs of aging. I can’t give you a definitive answer about the amount of blame that can be placed on radicals, but I can tell you that antioxidants prevent and repair free radical damage.

So, the last ingredients in this most effective skin wrinkles treatment are coenzyme Q10, vitamin E and other antioxidants. For more facts see AHealthyRadiantSkin.com Now, you have the keys to more beautiful skin.

The Various Treatment For Skin Wrinkles

With the advancement and progress in the technology of health and wellness, there are a myriad choice of treatment for skin wrinkles.

Whether it be topical, cosmetic or surgical, there is a broad range of treatments available in the market from just reducing wrinkles to totally eradicating its presence, which would ultimately require surgical treatment.

Here is a list of cosmetic treatments, both medical and surgical, including topical medicines and creams that are available in the market.

Vitamin A Acid- also known as tretinoin, with common brand names like Retin- A and Renova, are among the most common ingredients for wrinkle treatment.

This ingredient, available by prescription, has the longest success record in the treatment of aging skin and removing fine lines, especially in the facial area.

Creams and lotions containing tretinoin must be used continually and diligently.Initial symptoms may cause redness and peeling, however, the discomfort of the side effects may be reduced my lowering the concentration of the ingredient with the base cream and applying it less often until the skin has adjusted to it.

Alpha-hydroxy acids, also termed as fruit acids, include active ingredients like glycolic and lactic acid.

Medical preparations containing these fruit acids are safer alternatives and cause very little or no skin irritation at all, however, effects are not as significant, though.

Antioxidants- these are basically topical preparations that contain vitamins like A, C and E, as well as beta-carotene. These are commonly coupled with sun protection and provide mild treatment for fine wrinkles.

There are also ordinary moisturizers that claim to reduce wrinkles, however, moisturizers that do not contain any of these topical ingredients or substances can only mask or hide wrinkles temporarily and only reduce the appearance of fine lines.

There are also cosmetic procedures readily available in the market, usually offered by dermatological experts or medical practitioners.

Glycolic acid peels- Although this form of treatment involves hands-on application, these superficial peels can only make slight effects in the intensity and degree of fine wrinkles.

Deeper peels- This skin peel process involves the use of chemical substances like salicylic acid and trichloroacetic acid that penetrates deeper into the skin.

It is believed that the deeper the treatment penetrates into the skin, the more effective it gets in smoothing out the fine lines of wrinkles, however, the deeper the peel, the greater risk of having side effects, among them, long-lasting pigment changes or changes in the color of the skin and scarring.

These peels generally do not require anesthetics, however, patients can request for mild sedation to help ease short-term but painful treatment process.

Microdermabrasion- this process primarily involves scrubbing the skin using a machine containing silica or aluminum crystals that is being used to sand the skin.

These services are often offered in packages of six to seven treatment sessions and does not change skin anatomy or generally have chemically-adverse effects, but does guarantee to make skin feel smoother.

Over the counter cosmetic products that are being sold as home microdermabrasion are just mild exfoliants and are generally harmless but are less likely to produce significant, sometimes barely noticeable, changes in wrinkles.

Dermabrasion - this is the real surgical process usually performed by medical practitioners, mostly plastic surgeons or licensed dermatology practitioners, under general anesthesia. This surgical treatment involves the deft hands and skill of the treating physician, using a rotating instrument to sand the skin down.

Dermabrasion can produce excellent results, however, a greater risk is involved in the process, since it can produce significant side effects like scarring and permanent changes in skin color. With the many treatments for skin wrinkles, people now have several choices as to which one to choose should they decide to choose the right treatment that would suit them.

Wrinkles Be Gone!

Is growing old gracefully getting old? The wear and tear of daily abuse to our skin from sun damage, wind and pollutants only helps the aging process more. And then one day, you look in the mirror and you do not recognize the person looking back at you. The wrinkles may not yet be one of your biggest concerns, but you begin noticing that the elasticity of you skin is beginning to fade quickly.

Why? Because the most common cause of wrinkles is a loss in the elasticity of the collagen layer. Collagen is a connective tissue layer that supports the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis). As we age, there is a loss of collagen elasticity and support of the overlying skin. This causes facial wrinkling.

Aside from genetics, according to Sykes, there are other causes of wrinkles: *Smoking clearly decreases the microcirculation to the skin and increases the amount of facial wrinkles. Many chronic tobacco users have a marked increase in the number wrinkles around their mouth (particularly on their upper lip). Exposure to the sun or in tanning beds also decreases the elasticity of the skin, dehydrates the skin, and increases wrinkles in the skin. *Harmful UVA and UVB solar rays deplete the skin of moisture and thin the dermal layer of the skin.

Wrinkle Prevention

While you are still young is the time to start thinking about wrinkle prevention. Although there is no way to completely stop the aging process, there are ways to prevent pre-mature aging. According to Dermanetwork.org, here are some preventative measures you can take to prevent wrinkles: *Avoid excessive sun exposure, including sun lamps and tanning beds. Ultraviolet exposure is greatest between 10 AM and 4 PM. *Use sunscreens in combination with other sun-protective measures. *Quit smoking. Smoking increases wrinkles around the mouth, but alos places you at a higher risk for skin cancer. *Lead a healthy lifestyle: balanced diet, exercise and stress reduction. *Daily skin care should consist of mild cleansing of the face daily, along with an application of moisturizer and daily sunscreen use. *Have a good skin regime program in conjunction with a dermatologist or aesthetician.

Two of the really good skin care programs are Vivier Tx and Biodroga (these are not available over the counter because they have concentrations of active ingredients that exceed the limitations set by the FDA for over-the-counter products). These programs have a balance of all of the steps you need to cleanse, to hydrate, to exfoliate, to protect the skin, and to adjust its pH, so that it makes your skin healthier.

Wrinkle Treatment

Unfortunately, you cannotchange your genetic makeup. In my seminars, I jokingly say, choose your parents wisely. As indicated, you can help prevent pre-mature aging early on. But how many of us actually took aging into consideration when we were in our 20s Growing old seemed like a lifetime away, and the idea of having wrinkles seemed ridiculous. Funny how we believe that growing old will never happen to us, but it does, and when it does, it feels as if one day we just woke up and realized that we are not 20 anymore. We may still feel or act young, but our skin and our bodies tend to disagree. That is why it is so important to consider preventative treatments if you are younger, and not already trying to treat the wrinkles that somehow just appeared out of nowhere.

If you are one of the many people who did not think twice about wrinkles in your youth, there are some amazing ways to actually treat wrinkles, or temporarily reverse the aging process of our skin. Some techniques are simple and affordable, while other treatments are high-tech and costly.

Creams

Topical medication can help to thin the epidermis (outer cell layer of skin) and thicken the dermis (inner cell layer of skin). These agents remove, or exfoliate, the dead superficial skin layer, producing a healthier revitalized skin texture. Medications such as Retin-A and Tazarac, as well as topical alpha-hydroxy acids, improve the quality of the skin and reduce fine wrinkles. Vitamin C, such as that found in the Vivier line of skin care products, also are useful, as they stimulate collagen formation. Another very useful cream program is the Vivier Tx system that helps to get rid of aging brown spots without surgery or lasers.

Fillers

If you have smaller wrinkles, either around the mouth or crows feet (around the eyes), there are treatments that can fill in the areas where there are creases or wrinkles. Part of the exciting news about treating wrinkles in the facial area today are that there are several new filler options under evaluation that hopefully will be available in the near future. Examples of these are Restylane, Radiance, and Artefil. Advantages of some of these fillers are longer-lasting results and a more complete correction of the deformities. Again, though, the choice of the treatment modality depends on multiple factors. Therefore, patients need to be aware of this and seek proper consultation from physicians and staff who are properly trained to evaluate them and individualize their treatment and management.

In 2003, the FDA approved a new injectable gel to treat wrinkles, called Restylane. Studies conducted by the manufacturer showed that Restylane is safe and effective for filling moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Most patients needed one injection to get optimal correction; about one-third of patients needed more than one injection to get a satisfactory result. The effect lasted about six months. Restylane is made with hyaluronic acid.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a way to exfoliate the skin. In this procedure, the skin is abraded with small aluminum oxide particles. In that, the superficial layers of the skin are removed; therefore, microdermabrasion is effective for fine wrinkles, superficial scaly lesions, such as superficial keratosis or pigment irregularities. It is not particularly effective for large pores, deep wrinkles, severe acne scarring or moles or other raised growths. Similarly, it is not effective for blood vessels. Deeper pigment abnormalities, large pores, and blood vessels would be better treated with intense pulse light. Raised lesions, such as moles, usually require direct removal. The small skin tags can simply be clipped off.

Botox

Botox is a very diluted form of a substance called botulinum toxin. Botox is injected into the muscles that cause wrinkles when you frown, squint, laugh or smile. The injections stop nerve impulses from moving to the injected muscles, so the muscles relax and the skin looks smoother.

Treatments take about 10 minutes and it takes 4 days for Botox to start to relax the muscles. The results last up to 4 months. In order to keep up the appearance, treatments need to be maintained every 3 to 6 months.

Lasers

When it comes to treating wrinkles, there are also some laser treatments that may be quite effective. CO2 laser, or the erbium lasers, are used for skin resurfacing. Another treatment very popular today is the IPL, or intense pulsed light. The intense light pulse treatments are not true lasers and have been used to treat fine wrinkles, age spots, blood vessels, and in general, to smooth the skin. Intense pulse light treatments have relatively few adverse effects and seem to produce excellent results.

As you can see, there are many options to not only prevent wrinkles early on, but there are many ways to treat that dreaded aging process without plastic surgery.

Why Only an Experienced Doctor Should Do your Botox, Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse Injections

Botox and the soft tissue fillers Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse are revolutionary non surgical facial rejuvenation therapies. When used properly by an experienced skilled physician they produce excellent results and are safe, with very few side effects or complications

Recently there has been some publicity about the dangers of Botox® injection. However a closer inspection of reported adverse events reveals that improper injection techniques, use by unlicensed persons, and use of off label preparations have been the cause of most complications.

I have also received many emails on my saveyourface.com website from patients who have had problems with soft tissue fillers injected by other physicians. In all cases improper injection techniques were used by the physicians who treated these patients.

Understand that the manufacturers of Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse and other soft tissue fillers are allowed to sell these products to any physician, not just experienced plastic surgeons and dermatologists. Also understand that some doctors with no experience in plastic surgery, dermatology or medical aesthetics are using these new products to treat patients. In fact in some cases nurses and even aestheticians with no medical training are now doing injections.

This state of affairs can be a prescription for disaster for you, the unsuspecting patient.

I have been a plastic surgeon using injectables on my patients for 25 years and I still consider these procedures ones that require great concentration, skill and careful technique to safely get a good result.

I also do not inject soft tissue fillers like Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane into the dark circle beneath the eye. I consider it dangerous; complications like firm visible lumps beneath the eyelid are common and often irreversible. Go to saveyourface.com and check the archives under “unhappy results” if you want to read the sad experiences of people who have had filler injections in the dark circle beneath the eye. Don’t let that happen to you.

The injectables Botox, Juvederm, Restylane and Radiesse are wonderful effective safe agents for facial rejuvenation, but they must be administered by a knowledgeable and experienced expert who uses the proper technique. Insist on it. Don’t take chances with your unique face.

These opinions are of course my own based on my 25 years of experience. I am aware that there are those that disagree with me but the plastic surgery societies, dermatology societies and many state legislatures are studying these issues at this time. My concern is patient safety

When you come to my practice you can feel confident that I will be doing your injection, very carefully and using techniques that I have determined work best.
